Utilization of Research by Canadian Dental Hygienists

Study Objectives:
To investigate the extent of research utilization among dental hygienists in Canada, and to investigate the relationship between a number of variables, for example education level, and factors related to research utilization.
The study will be guided by the following questions:
- In what types of research related activities are Canadian Dental Hygienists involved?
- What are the views of Canadian dental hygienists about research in their practices?
- What are the enabling and disabling factors associated with the integration of research by Canadian dental hygienists into their practice contexts?
- Are there differences among groups of study participants in their utilization of research?

A study of research utilization practices and critical thinking dispositions of Canadian dental hygienists
Primary investigator: Sandra Cobban RDH, MDE
Co-investigator: Dr. Profetto-McGrath, RN, PhD
Award: 9,478.20
Study Objectives:
- To identify and describe research utilization behaviours and critical thinking dispositions of practicing dental hygienists.
- To identify if a relationship exists between research utilization behaviours and critical thinking dispositions.
